GOAL AND VISION
Aquinas Institute of Philosophy (AIP) is the Institute owned and run by the Vincentian Board of Education (VBE) of the North Indian Province of the Congregation of the Mission (CM). The goal of the Institute is (i) to provide opportunities and incentives for studying philosophical disciplines and allied subjects to the Vincentian as well as other religious and diocesan seminarians, and the lay students of the North Indian Region of the country and to offer scope for specialized study and research in Western and Indian philosophical thoughts; (ii) to enable the students to be rooted in the “philosophical patrimony which is perennially valid” (VG, Norms of Application, art. 64 § 1) with a special emphasis given to the works of Saint Thomas Aquinas; (iii) to investigate philosophical problems according to scientific methodology and to search for solutions in the light of natural reason, which can also be demonstrated to be consistent with Christian view of the world, of man and of God (Sapientia Christiana, art. 79 § 1); (iv) to promote interaction and integration between reason and faith, and between wisdom and Christian life and (v) to prepare students with integrity and intellectual gifts for leadership roles and for a life of mutual cooperation with other Christian Churches and non-Christian communities so that the academic pursuit contributes to the betterment of the people of God and the benefit of all people of goodwill.
